How do I know which of the TWO choices for Toolkits should I get?

The MindWing Concepts resources in each toolkit are developmentally appropriate for specific grade ranges. The toolkits are identical except for the primary modeling tools that the teachers use to deliver the instruction: Braidy the StoryBraid® items for PreK-Kindergarten and Story Grammar Marker® for Grades 1-6. Please refer to the "*" starred items in the resources section entitled "What Comes in the Course Implementation Toolkit?" If you work with BOTH age groups, you may want to choose one and then consider purchasing the additional materials separately as you see fit. Click here for more details.

How will I receive my Course Toolkit?

Your Course Toolkit will be shipped by MindWing Concepts, Inc. to the mailing address you provide and you will receive your toolkit within 5 business days (outside of the continental United States, shipping times may vary).

Do I need prior training in linguistics, language development, or reading?

No prior training is required. This course was created to fill that gap. We’ll guide you step-by-step through essential concepts and show you how to apply them in your classroom, regardless of your background.

Is it a prerequisite that I know how to use the Story Grammar Marker® Approach?

No, it is not a prerequisite to know how to use the Story Grammar Marker® (SGM®) Approach before taking the course. In fact, this course is designed to introduce and guide you step-by-step through the use of SGM® tools and methodology for implementation of course content in your classroom—whether you're brand new to them or already familiar. You'll receive direct instruction, demonstrations, and practical applications throughout the course so you can confidently integrate SGM® into your teaching for language comprehension and expression.

Should I take this course if I’ve already attended a Story Grammar Marker® workshop?

Yes—absolutely. While a workshop introduces you to the Story Grammar Marker® Approach, this course goes much deeper. It integrates SGM® into a full, research-based system of explicit, integrated language comprehension instruction—rooted in the Framework of Language Comprehension Competencies and grounded in the Science of Reading, language development, cognitive psychology, and implementation science. How long do I have access to the course?

You’ll have 12 months of access to all Course Content, Live Support Sessions and Community features. This allows you to return to materials as needed and apply the learning at your own pace. Can I earn professional development credit?

Yes. A Certificate of Completion is provided upon finishing the Course. It may be eligible for PDPs or PD hours depending on your district or state. It can be used for Speech and Language Pathologists to earn PDH (Professional Development Hours). Check with your local education agency for specific credit requirements.

(15 hours per credit × 15 credits = 225 hours).
This includes all course units, assignments, reflections, and implementation work.

If you are enrolling for personal professional growth or school-based PD:

40 hours – Minimum engagement to meet foundational knowledge goals

112 hours (recommended) – Includes additional practice, modeling, and real-world application to support confident implementation in your classroom or team
